Women have been taking to the skies since the earliest days of flight. Aloft, they have demonstrated skill, courage, and ingenuity in every aspect of aviation. On the ground, they've developed and refined technologies for countless commercial and military applications. They've done this in times of war and peace, in eras when a woman\u2019s place was restricted to the home, and in diverse countries and cultures around the world.
In late 2011, "Women Fly" takes to the airways to explore -- and celebrate -- the legacy and contemporary work of female aviators. A presentation of Saybrook Productions, the thirteen-part PBS series was conceived and developed by Jonathan Silvers, an Emmy Award-winning broadcast journalist and filmmaker. As series' producer and director, Silvers will ensure that "Women Fly!" is a detailed and vibrant look at women's role in aviation history and current events. X
